Match the attachment and installation method
Custom automotive rubber plugs can close unused openings in a vehicle panel or component housing. Structure, dimensions, material, hardness, and color can be adapted to the installation. The retaining profile should match the opening and surrounding thickness rather than being chosen only by the visible plug face.
Check the immediate area on both sides of the hole. Formed edges, brackets, or internal components may limit how the plug seats. A closure that fits a flat test opening may require a different profile where the vehicle panel curves or thickens locally.
Choose the compound for the location's heat, fluids, and cleaning exposure. Remove loose debris and check the edge for burrs before fitting. Seat the retaining portion fully and inspect the face for an uneven or lifted section. Recheck the plug after nearby trim or components are serviced, because those operations can disturb it. Replace damaged or permanently distorted parts with the matching profile, preserving the intended retention and the clearances around the opening.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. A closure that fits a flat test opening may require a different profile where the vehicle panel curves or thickens locally. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
