A rubber compression plug depends on controlled deformation at the opening where it is installed. In a heated application, that fit needs to be assessed with the selected silicone formulation and the actual thermal exposure. A firm room-temperature insertion does not establish behavior throughout the operating cycle.
Define the working contact area and the insertion depth, including any head or shoulder that locates the plug. The surrounding opening should support the compressed profile without cutting it or forcing material into an unintended gap. Leave suitable removal access for the way the closure will be serviced.
Evaluate the complete joint under the relevant temperature, duration, and sealing conditions. The heat-resistant description does not provide a universal rating. After use and cooling, inspect for lasting distortion, cuts, or a changed seating position. If the plug no longer engages as expected, investigate its condition and the mating opening rather than compensating automatically with greater force. Repeated overcompression can conceal an unsuitable fit while adding further stress to the working section.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. The surrounding opening should support the compressed profile without cutting it or forcing material into an unintended gap. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
