Product Overview

Cone-shaped EPDM rubber stoppers use a tapered body that increases in diameter along its length. The taper allows the seating position to be defined within the receiving opening, making insertion depth a key part of the fit. Custom dimensions should specify both ends of the cone and the length between them.

Compare the bore with the stopper at the intended contact position, not only with the largest or smallest diameter. If the stopper sits too shallow, it may have too little supported contact; if it is driven too deep, removal can become difficult and the rubber may be overcompressed. The opening itself may also be tapered, which changes the relationship between depth and contact.

The selected EPDM compound should suit the substance and temperature at the closure. Clean the receiving surface before insertion and avoid using a sharp tool to push or remove the stopper. Seat it in the intended range, leaving the accessible portion needed for handling. Inspect the tapered surface after removal for cuts or a permanent ridge that could affect later seating. A tapered fit does not by itself establish a pressure rating, so the complete closure must suit the actual operating conditions.

Material options
EPDM compound options, customized alongside the profile and contact conditions.
Hardness selection
Solid rubber options: 30–90 Shore A. The taper allows the seating position to be defined within the receiving opening, making insertion depth a key part of the fit.
Custom geometry
Custom dimensions should specify both ends of the cone and the length between them.
Fit evaluation
Compare the bore with the stopper at the intended contact position, not only with the largest or smallest diameter.
Color & OEM
Custom colors; OEM identification positioned outside closure contact surfaces.

Stopper & Plug Size Catalog

Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.

RST Blind-Hole Plugs

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
