A rubber grommet with grooves can be custom molded for an automotive receiving feature. The groove locates the rubber at the wall or seat, while the remaining profile follows the intended cable route. EPDM selection should be based on the environment at that particular vehicle location.
Check the finished wall thickness and opening edge against the groove dimensions. The rubber needs to seat without looseness or excessive compression. Nearby brackets, trim, and harness supports can influence the available clearance and the force applied to the insert after assembly.
Fit the grommet into a smooth, clean opening and inspect its retaining area before surrounding parts restrict access. Route the harness with sufficient slack, then check the seat again once the supports are fixed. A cable pulled toward a nearby branch can lift one side even when the groove initially fits. During servicing, inspect for displaced rubber or cuts after moving the harness. Use the correct profile for the opening rather than assuming that another grooved automotive part is interchangeable.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The groove locates the rubber at the wall or seat, while the remaining profile follows the intended cable route. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
