Match the attachment and installation method
Rubber covers can be custom molded to fit over an end feature, while a plug-style closure fits into an opening. Choosing the intended contact arrangement is the first step in developing a useful profile. The dimensions need to follow the actual surface that retains the rubber, not just the visible size of the part being covered.
For an external cover, check the outside profile and insertion length. For an internal plug, check the bore and seating depth. Both arrangements need enough clearance for installation and removal without stretching or compressing the rubber beyond the intended fit.
In a warm application, select the compound for the actual temperature and exposure duration together with any contacted substances. Fit the closure cleanly and inspect the edge for twisting or incomplete seating. Keep nearby parts from pressing the cover out of position. During reuse, examine the contact area for tears or permanent deformation, and use the matching geometry if the receiving component changes rather than adapting an unsuitable closure by force.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. For an external cover, check the outside profile and insertion length. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
