Selected for the contact, temperature and movement
Define the visible surfaces and intended color
Develop holes, lips and walls around the mating parts
Match the attachment and installation method
A rubber dust cap needs room to reach its intended contact within the opening it protects. In a recessed location, surrounding walls or internal features may stop the cap early, leaving the working profile only partly engaged. The visible top can conceal that incomplete fit.
Match the inserted section, retaining feature, and available depth to the actual opening. Consider removal access as well: a cap fitted close to a neighboring component needs a practical grip that does not require prying against a thin sealing edge. The mating surface should be free of rough edges that can cut the rubber during repeated installation.
Seat the cap evenly and inspect for a raised side or folded lip. Water and dust exclusion must be assessed in the complete joint under the intended conditions rather than inferred from the flexible material. Before reuse, clean the working area and examine it for lasting distortion. A cap that now fits differently should be checked for damage or interference instead of simply being pushed farther into the recess.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. A rubber dust cap needs room to reach its intended contact within the opening it protects. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
