The mouth should pass the local features without splitting, and the cap should reach its intended depth without leaning. Remove sharp cutting burrs before fitting. When used as a dust cover, inspect that the opening edge remains evenly seated around the leg. If the cap also contacts a supporting surface, evaluate that position with the full item set down. Clean out trapped grit when removing the cover for maintenance, and check whether repeated movement has polished one internal area more heavily than the others. That can reveal a local fit issue beneath an otherwise tidy exterior.
