During a sample trial, seat the cover evenly around the perimeter instead of pulling one side down first. Examine the final position for a rolled lip or trapped debris. If liquid sealing is required, evaluate the entire closure in its intended orientation rather than assuming a snug feel establishes a seal. Clean the rim and cover before refitting, and replace a part with a split edge that prevents consistent seating around the full opening.
