Rubber grommets for wires can use an oval profile to separate insulation from an elongated panel edge. Size, material and color are customizable, but usable clearance also depends on the wire arrangement.
Individual wires can migrate toward one curved end as the harness is connected or tied down. This may concentrate contact in a small region while leaving the opposite side empty. Arrange the wiring and nearby supports so the bundle crosses the panel without being drawn tightly against that end.
Check the cutout's end radii and straight sections before fitting the grommet. The retaining profile should engage around the full outline, with no section rolled underneath. A partially fitted lip can be difficult to spot once the wires obscure the opening.
After completing the connections, inspect the transition again in its final position. During later modifications, avoid adding wires until the original clearance is lost. If the bundle grows, reassess the passage and supporting route rather than forcing extra conductors into the existing protected opening.
