A rubber sleeved grommet extends the rubber interface beyond the immediate edge of a panel hole. The sleeve length and bore can be tailored to the item passing through it, while the outer retaining section fits the panel. This arrangement requires attention to the space behind the panel as well as the visible face.
During installation, keep the sleeve aligned with the passing component. A sleeve folded back on itself or compressed against a nearby bracket can prevent the assembly from reaching its intended position. Allow clearance for the sleeve throughout any expected movement, and inspect the far end after the flange has been seated. Pulling on the passing cable or tube should not be used to drag a displaced grommet into place.
For a water sealing arrangement, the complete installed geometry determines the contact at the bore and panel. Establish the exposure conditions and select the compound and dimensions accordingly; the sleeve alone does not define a water resistance rating. Maintenance checks should include cracks near the flange transition and debris held inside the sleeve, where damage may be less visible than on a flat grommet.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The sleeve length and bore can be tailored to the item passing through it, while the outer retaining section fits the panel. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
