A taper sleeve grommet provides a molded transition along the cable passage. The tapered geometry should be developed around the actual routing and available space, with the mounting end and cable exit each given the dimensions they need. A narrowing outside profile does not by itself establish the required internal clearance.
Custom structure, silicone compound, dimensions, hardness and color are available. Consider where the cable begins to bend after leaving the sleeve. The taper should fit the surrounding envelope without forcing the jacket into an abrupt change of direction or pushing the retaining end away from the panel.
Evaluate installation with the intended cable termination. If a connector cannot pass through the sleeve without excessive stretching, the part may need to be fitted earlier in the harness sequence. Support the rubber while threading the cable and inspect the exit for an inward fold afterward.
During operation or service evaluation, look for a crease where the tapered section meets the freely moving cable. A crease that returns in the same place can indicate an unsuitable route or unsupported span. Check coverage and seating again after the final cable clips are secured, when the actual forces on the sleeve become apparent.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The tapered geometry should be developed around the actual routing and available space, with the mounting end and cable exit each given the dimensions they need. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
