A silicone gel sleeve can be developed for a cable or pipe passage that needs a flexible surrounding component. The custom range includes changes to structure, dimensions, color and rubber formulation. Select the finished compound and geometry for the actual contact rather than treating the word gel as a complete description of softness.
Look at the length over which the sleeve meets the routed item. A short collar mainly protects a local transition, while a longer sleeve also occupies space along the route. The chosen length must clear neighboring hardware and allow the cable or pipe to follow its intended direction without being held in a forced bend.
Hardness and wall thickness work together. A flexible loose sleeve can feel substantially firmer after it is supported by the part inside it. Evaluate its fitted condition, including the clearance at both ends and any retention feature that locates it in the assembly.
During installation, guide the routed item through without scraping the inside on a sharp termination. Keep the sleeve aligned before the surrounding panel is closed. Inspect the ends after servicing, especially where a cable is repeatedly moved. Any sealing or temperature requirement should be assessed for the selected formulation and complete interface, alongside the mechanical protection required at the passage.
