Product Overview

Silicone membrane keypads provide molded control surfaces for access control devices. Their layout, button proportions, and markings can be adapted to the enclosure and the underlying switch arrangement. The keypad is part of the device boundary as well as the user's pressing surface, so its perimeter and individual moving areas need to be designed together.

For a device exposed to water, consider the entire front assembly. The rubber perimeter, housing joint, fastener arrangement, and other openings all contribute to the result. Excessive compression at the keypad edge can interfere with button movement, while insufficient support can allow the sheet to shift. Evaluate sealing requirements and key operation with the same final enclosure configuration.

Access controls also need a legible and workable layout. Printed, embossed, debossed, or colorfilled legends can identify keys, but their positions must correspond to the operating areas below. Check rapid entry sequences, confirmation keys, and accessible edge presses rather than judging a single central button in isolation. Each key should return before the next intended action.

Keep the underside free from assembly residue and avoid stretching the sheet to compensate for a housing mismatch. Cleaning should remove deposits around the keys without damaging their edges. The completed access device determines its environmental rating and electrical response; the keypad's custom geometry should be assessed as part of that complete product.

Material options
Silicone. Custom formulation and color for the intended contact conditions.
Hardness selection
Silicone: 20–80 Shore A. Excessive compression at the keypad edge can interfere with button movement, while insufficient support can allow the sheet to shift.
Custom dimensions
Printed, embossed, debossed, or colorfilled legends can identify keys, but their positions must correspond to the operating areas below.
Fit & assembly
Check rapid entry sequences, confirmation keys, and accessible edge presses rather than judging a single central button in isolation.
Use & inspection
Cleaning should remove deposits around the keys without damaging their edges.

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
