Silicone rubber hole plugs need a retention profile suited to the opening and the way the closure will be used. A frequently removed plug needs practical handling access, while its installed section must remain located during the expected exposure and movement. These requirements should be considered together rather than choosing solely by head diameter.
Identify the hole size, wall thickness, and available depth at the mating component. A groove, shoulder, or tapered section works differently, so compare the actual profile with the intended seating area. Check for internal obstructions that can prevent full engagement before the top reaches its visible position.
Insert the plug evenly and inspect for a rolled edge or an unexpectedly loose section. Keep the working surfaces free of grit during reuse. Any sealing or pressure requirement must be evaluated on the complete joint with the selected material formulation. After removal, inspect the retaining area as well as the grip surface; repeated handling can alter the part's engagement even if its exposed face still appears undamaged.

FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
