A small rubber bumper places a compliant contact surface in an assembly with limited room. Industrial and electronic equipment are relevant settings for this custom molded part, where a small housing feature or nearby component may need separation from a hard contact point. The shape can be developed around the actual space rather than selected solely by a nominal diameter.
Compact parts need careful attention to how they are retained. A bumper may appear secure before the neighboring component is installed, then become difficult to inspect once the assembly is closed. Establish its orientation and fully seat it while access is available. The intended contact should occur on the working face, with room for the rubber to deform without being cut by a sharp surrounding edge.
For servicing, consider whether the bumper will remain in position when the adjacent component is removed. Small loose parts are easily displaced during reassembly. Check that all intended contact points are present before closing the equipment, and avoid stacking additional pads to compensate for a fit problem in the original layout.
