Automotive wiring rubber grommets provide custom interfaces between a vehicle opening and its routed wiring. Their retaining groove should match the panel, while the passage needs to accommodate the finished bundle. Material selection should follow the heat and substances encountered at that location.
The grommet's fit can change when wiring is repaired or rerouted. A different bundle diameter or exit angle may pull the flexible body sideways even when the panel opening is unchanged. Check the route and supporting clips together rather than inspecting only the visible grommet face.
During installation, remove burrs from the opening and seat the retaining portion completely. Secure the wiring according to the vehicle design, then inspect the perimeter again for lifting. Maintenance should include the areas where the bundle bends close to the panel and where the rubber contacts nearby structure. Replace a damaged component with the matching passage and groove profile. Avoid forcing extra wires through a passage that no longer suits the completed bundle at that position.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. A different bundle diameter or exit angle may pull the flexible body sideways even when the panel opening is unchanged. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
