Product Overview
This custom black rubber cable grommet forms the interface between a vehicle cable route and its panel opening. The molded profile can be adapted to the receiving wall and the cable arrangement, covering the edge while locating the passage. Its final geometry should follow the installation position rather than relying on a general automotive shape.
A vehicle harness often approaches an opening at an angle. Allow enough free length for that approach so the cable does not constantly pull one side of the grommet away from the panel. Nearby trim, brackets, and connectors also need clearance after the surrounding parts are installed.
For a water-resistant entry, both the panel perimeter and the cable passage must fit as intended. Inspect these areas with the harness routed and supported in its working position. The finished vehicle assembly determines the required exposure conditions; a rubber insert alone does not establish a waterproof rating. During servicing, check the seating again after moving the harness or removing trim, since access work can displace an otherwise correctly fitted part.
