Automotive electrical EPDM rubber grommets can provide a custom interface at a cable opening. The panel groove and cable passage should suit the actual vehicle component, with the EPDM formulation selected for the installation environment. The location may expose the rubber to different conditions from another opening elsewhere in the vehicle.
Check the panel thickness, opening shape, and direction of the routed cable. The grommet should seat fully while leaving enough room for the cable to exit without a sharp bend. Nearby brackets or trim can affect that space after the vehicle is assembled.
Prepare the opening by removing damaging burrs and loose debris. Seat the retained region around the full perimeter, then check it again after the cable route is secured. Provide the supports required by the wiring design rather than concentrating cable pull at the grommet. During servicing, inspect the contact area for wear or displacement. A replacement needs the correct passage and retaining profile along with the specified material for the same location.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. Provide the supports required by the wiring design rather than concentrating cable pull at the grommet. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
