Selected for the contact, temperature and movement
Define the visible surfaces and intended color
Develop holes, lips and walls around the mating parts
Match the attachment and installation method
Silicone molded sealing plugs for an 8 mm application should be defined by the feature that the measurement describes. The body diameter, mating hole and exposed head may each have a different size. Establishing the installed geometry prevents a nominal size from being mistaken for a complete fit specification.
For food contact use, select the silicone formulation for the actual contents and conditions, including temperature and cleaning. The plug can be customized in structure, hardness and color, with the contact portion developed around the receiving opening. Its exposed area should permit the intended handling without requiring a tool against the sealing surface.
Check insertion depth on representative openings and ensure that the plug cannot be pushed beyond its intended seat during routine use. Small parts can be difficult to inspect once installed, so examine the body for cuts or particles beforehand. During reuse, clean both the plug and the receiving recess and assess whether the contact remains even. The finished closure should be evaluated for the intended storage orientation and any separate pressure requirement.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. The body diameter, mating hole and exposed head may each have a different size. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
