A 5mm silicone stopper is intended for closing a small opening where a removable elastomer plug is appropriate. The compact format can be considered for a purpose-made hole or a matching component port, provided its geometry is checked against the mating part. The most important detail is what the nominal size describes: the insertion section, the opening to be closed and the outer head are different dimensions and should not be treated as interchangeable.
Start the selection process with a section drawing of the opening. Include its diameter, depth, entrance shape and any internal shoulder that could limit insertion. Decide whether the plug needs to sit flush, remain accessible for removal or provide a visible cover above the surface. These details determine how the stopper engages with the surrounding component and whether the operator can remove it without using a sharp tool.
The existing product information offers customization of material, hardness, color and size. For this version, confirm the silicone compound and the intended contact conditions with ETOL. State whether the application involves dry storage, liquid contact, repeated opening or elevated temperature. A material name by itself does not establish an allowable pressure, a temperature limit or suitability for contact with a particular substance; those requirements need to be agreed for the supplied part.
Fit the 5mm silicone stopper into a clean, undamaged opening and check that it seats without excessive force. Do not force a visibly oversized plug into a brittle mating component. If removal is frequent, inspect the inserted section for cuts and permanent deformation, and keep small loose parts controlled during maintenance. Share the bore dimensions and preferred removal method when requesting a sample so that the initial trial reflects how the finished component will actually be used.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. State whether the application involves dry storage, liquid contact, repeated opening or elevated temperature. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
