Rubber bung plugs, also called stoppers, can be custom molded around an opening and the position at which the closure should stop. Structure, dimensions, hardness, material, and color are customizable. The useful design begins with the part that contacts the opening, followed by the exposed section needed for installation and removal.
Establish the usable depth inside the opening. An internal shoulder may stop the plug before its face reaches the intended seat, while an unrestricted bore requires another way to control the final position. The molded profile should account for that difference rather than relying on an approximate diameter alone.
Select the compound for the contents and temperature at the closure. Fit the stopper squarely on a clean mating surface and check that it reaches the intended position without excessive force. During removal, use the accessible portion rather than gripping the contact edge with a sharp tool. Inspect the inserted section before reuse, particularly if the stopper has remained compressed for a long period or has been repeatedly handled during servicing.

FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
