A rubber groove grommet locates around a panel opening through the relationship between its groove and the panel edge. That groove should match the effective finished thickness, including coating or local layers, rather than only the nominal sheet size before manufacture.
Develop the silicone or other rubber profile around the wire harness and opening together. The bore should follow the finished harness configuration while the retained section holds the boundary without a flange being forced flat by surrounding hardware. Choose the compound for the conditions at that location.
Seat the groove progressively and inspect both sides where access permits. After the harness reaches its final routing supports, check that insertion has not pulled the grommet out of engagement. During maintenance, revisit the fit if the panel or local finish changes. A previously suitable groove can become too loose or too compressed when another layer is added, even though the opening outline and harness remain unchanged.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The bore should follow the finished harness configuration while the retained section holds the boundary without a flange being forced flat by surrounding hardware. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
