A silicone cable grommet can combine cable edge protection with identification for a particular assembly. Custom printed, embossed or recessed markings are available within the product range. Their location should be chosen so identification remains visible while the surfaces that locate the cable and panel stay appropriate for their mechanical role.
On a small grommet, a raised mark placed near the bore can crowd the cable passage or become difficult to read once the harness is installed. A mark on a hidden rear face may be useful during production but offer little help during maintenance. Consider both stages when defining the visible area.
The bore, retaining groove and outer dimensions can be customized alongside the marking. Evaluate the finished part with the actual cable route and enclosure cover in place. Check that the grommet remains seated when the cable is repositioned and that the chosen identification is still understandable. During cleaning, use a method compatible with the silicone and marking process, and inspect the retaining edge separately from the cosmetic condition of the visible face.
