Product Overview

An EPDM rubber grommet forms a flexible seat between a cable and a panel opening. In a warm enclosure, the surrounding panel and cable may change dimensions as the equipment heats and cools. The design should retain the grommet without relying on a fit that becomes excessively tight or loose through that cycle.

Specify the finished mounting dimensions and evaluate the chosen EPDM compound at the actual installation temperature. Local heat near a component can matter more than the general enclosure air temperature. Include any cleaning agents or incidental liquids in the material assessment.

The custom profile can be developed with the necessary bore, groove and flange dimensions. Check the part after the enclosure reaches its normal operating condition and again after cooling. Look for lifting at the flange, a squeezed cable passage or movement within the panel groove. Fastening nearby covers can also change the opening alignment, so complete the enclosure assembly before judging the fit. Keep the cable supported in its intended position during evaluation to avoid confusing routing tension with temperature related changes.

Material options
Custom EPDM formulation; tailor the geometry and color to the required interface and exposure.
Hardness range
30–90 Shore A for rubber. Assess the grade against this fit requirement: Look for lifting at the flange, a squeezed cable passage or movement within the panel groove.

Assembly considerations

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
