A silicone rubber stopper chemistry application requires the closure to be matched to the particular vessel, substances and operating conditions. The stopper's size and flexibility are useful selection details, but the compound must also be suitable for the exposure it will receive.
Consider the substances inside the vessel and the cleaning method used between operations. Include temperature and contact duration when evaluating the selected silicone formulation. ETOL can customize dimensions, hardness and color around the intended closure.
Check the vessel opening for the actual mating diameter, taper and available depth. A stopper should reach its designed contact without bottoming on an internal feature or being forced so deeply that removal becomes difficult. Use a closure arrangement appropriate to the procedure, including any specified pressure or retention provisions.
Keep the contact surfaces clean and inspect the stopper before assembly. Follow the applicable process for insertion, release and cleaning, avoiding an improvised lubricant or sharp tool that could alter the material or damage the vessel. After use, examine the inserted surface for swelling, cuts or permanent deformation. If its fit changes, reassess the exposure and vessel interface rather than pressing the same stopper farther into the opening to recover a tighter feel.
When several vessels use similar closures, keep each stopper associated with its intended neck and process. A visual match is insufficient if the contact depth or chemical exposure differs. Reassess the fit when a vessel is replaced, even if its external capacity and appearance remain familiar.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. A visual match is insufficient if the contact depth or chemical exposure differs. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
