Selected for the contact, temperature and movement
Define the visible surfaces and intended color
Develop holes, lips and walls around the mating parts
Match the attachment and installation method
Large rubber stoppers for automotive openings need enough space around the hole for their retaining and handling features. A closure may match the hole yet be difficult to seat or remove if surrounding trim, brackets or panel bends block access to its wider portion.
ETOL offers custom dimensions, rubber compounds, hardness and colors. Define the closure function and mating profile before selecting the part; a plug closing an opening should be evaluated for that duty independently of a rubber foot used as a support contact.
Check the finished panel or component with neighboring parts installed. Seat the plug without forcing its edge beneath an obstruction, and ensure its intended removal area remains accessible for service. Choose the material for the actual automotive exposure, including contact with fluids or cleaning substances. After nearby trim is refitted, inspect the plug again for pressure or distortion. If the closure has to be removed, release it carefully rather than pulling the surrounding panel out of shape, and inspect the hidden retaining section before reuse.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. Large automotive rubber plugs need enough space around the opening for their retaining and handling features. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
