A rubber stepped grommet uses changes in section to establish different contact or clearance regions within a custom interface. The steps must correspond to the mating assembly so the part can reach its intended position. Its flexible body cushions wiring against the cutout while locating around the panel.
Measure the height and diameter of each relevant step rather than only the largest outside dimension. A shoulder that meets too early can prevent the retaining area from seating, while an unsupported section may deform when the cable is routed. Include panel thickness and any adjacent recess in the fit review.
ETOL offers customization of structure, material, size, hardness and color. Decide which steps carry contact and which provide clearance before selecting the compound. Softness should help the designed fit, not compensate for conflicting shoulders.
Install in the intended orientation and inspect the seated position from both sides where possible. Check again after the wire route is secured. During replacement, retain the step sequence and dimensions that locate the original part; a smooth ring with a similar outside diameter may not preserve the same protection or retention.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. A shoulder that meets too early can prevent the retaining area from seating, while an unsupported section may deform when the cable is routed. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
