The rubber grommets wire protector design cushions a wire passage through a hard panel. Its custom structure places rubber over the cut edge so small movements do not immediately bring the wire covering against metal or another rough surface. The way the wire is supported on both sides influences how well that protective boundary stays in place.
Check each side of the entry separately. A short, secure run inside an enclosure may be connected to a long loose length outside it, causing most of the movement to concentrate at the opening. Provide suitable support for the loose section instead of expecting the grommet to carry its weight and every handling pull.
Match the retaining groove to the wall. The central passage should accommodate the finished wire without excessive compression or a folded lip.
After assembly, gently move the accessible cable through its expected service positions. Watch for rotation, lip lifting or local rubbing at the entry. Address those movements before they become repeated wear points in normal use.
