Product Overview

A silicone function keypad can be customized around a group of commands used within a product interface. Where a similar layout is considered for several products, the molded sheet still needs to suit each host's panel, circuit board, and available travel. A familiar button arrangement does not guarantee mechanical interchangeability.

Identify the dimensions that locate the keypad and those that define its visible controls. Panel thickness, aperture shape, and internal support can change the operating behavior even when the button centers are unchanged. Legends also need to correspond clearly to the actual functions provided in that product, particularly if some positions are unused or assigned differently.

Evaluate each intended host with its complete enclosure assembled. Check the controls around the perimeter and any larger function keys for rubbing, unintended neighboring movement, or inconsistent return. Keep installation orientation clear so that an otherwise symmetrical sheet is not fitted incorrectly. During servicing, compare the replacement part with the required configuration rather than relying on overall resemblance; a small difference underneath can affect switching while remaining almost invisible from the front.

Material options
Silicone. Custom formulation and color for the intended contact conditions.
Hardness selection
Silicone: 20–80 Shore A. Check the controls around the perimeter and any larger function keys for rubbing, unintended neighboring movement, or inconsistent return.
Custom dimensions
Panel thickness, aperture shape, and internal support can change the operating behavior even when the button centers are unchanged.
Fit & assembly
Keep installation orientation clear so that an otherwise symmetrical sheet is not fitted incorrectly.
Use & inspection
During servicing, compare the replacement part with the required configuration rather than relying on overall resemblance; a small difference underneath can affect switching while remaining almost invisible from the front.

Review material & tooling

Agree the compound and manufacturing approach

03

Evaluate the sample

Review the fit and agreed requirements in the assembly

04

Produce & inspect

Manufacture and check against the approved requirements

Review the intended assembly

Working conditions

Identify temperature, contact fluids and repeated movement.

Material and structure

Consider hardness together with wall thickness and support.

Installation

Check access, mating dimensions and the fitting sequence.

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
