A silicone plug for a medical closure project must be developed around the opening it closes and the substances it may contact. The custom shape can provide the required engaging section and an accessible area for fitting or removal. The exact compound and finished configuration are selected for that defined application.
The closure role should be clear. A plug used to cover an opening during handling has different requirements from a component retained within a finished device. Insertion depth, retention, and the possibility of repeated removal all affect the geometry. The engaging surface should remain intact without being scraped by the receiving edge.
Consider the cleaning or processing method together with the actual contact duration and temperature. Medical or food use is specific to the selected material and completed application; it does not follow from the shape or silicone name alone. Fit and handling evaluation should include the real mating component. Keep finished parts protected from contamination before assembly, and inspect the seating area for damage whenever the closure is removed.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. Insertion depth, retention, and the possibility of repeated removal all affect the geometry. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
