Custom automotive rubber wire harness grommets in a 16 mm configuration provide a shaped interface at the harness opening. The size reference needs to be linked to the complete profile, including the passage, outer retaining area, and panel groove. The finished harness section and vehicle panel determine those dimensions.
Include wrapping, branch positions, and the nearby harness clips when establishing the route. The bundle should not pull the grommet sideways once the surrounding vehicle parts are installed. Check the seating after the route is secured, especially on the side hidden behind trim or other components. The jacket should remain separated from the panel edge through the intended arrangement.
Select the compound for the specific vehicle location and its exposure to temperature, fluids, and maintenance products. Smooth the receiving edge and remove assembly debris before fitting. After a harness repair, inspect the bore and retaining lip together. A new cable or changed bundle size can require a different profile even when the panel opening and nominal grommet size remain unchanged.
