The automotive flat cable grommet uses a 15.5 mm size reference that should be related to the specific profile selected for the assembly. The cable passage, retained section and outside flange describe different dimensions, so that single measurement is not a complete fit definition.
ETOL offers custom dimensions, material, color and identification options. Compare the finished opening with the retained perimeter and panel groove. For the cable, include both width and thickness, along with any jacket ribs or reinforced region that will remain near the entry.
Keep the dimension reference associated with the same cross-section during comparison. A width measured at the flange should not be substituted for the internal passage width. Also establish whether a connector must travel through the opening during assembly, since its envelope may differ considerably from the flat lead that remains in the bore.
Keep the cable flat in its intended orientation during routing. Twisting it to enter an unsuitable passage can concentrate contact at its edges and pull the rubber to one side. The next support should preserve the cable's permitted bend direction and leave the entry relaxed.
During assembly, inspect the narrow ends of the passage as well as its broad faces. Confirm that the lip has stayed in the panel after the cable is connected to the rest of the vehicle wiring. If a replacement lead changes the jacket shape, reassess the entry rather than relying on the original nominal size. Check for a localized wear mark during service and correct the route that produces it before fitting another grommet.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The cable passage, retained section and outside flange describe different dimensions, so that single measurement is not a complete fit definition. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
