A closed rubber grommet fills an unused opening with a continuous rubber center. It suits panel layouts in which a hole is present but no cable or pipe currently passes through it. A custom flat profile can keep the closure close to the surrounding surface while the retaining geometry engages the panel edge.
The panel thickness matters as much as the opening diameter or outline. If the receiving groove is too narrow, the edge may not reach its intended position; if it is too wide, the closure can move in the hole. Allow for the finished panel surface, including coatings, when establishing that fit. Inspect the full perimeter after installation, especially on the side that is less visible during assembly.
Keep the center intact when using the part as a blanking closure. Cutting a passage later changes its function and can leave an uneven edge around the cable. Where a future cable route is planned, use a purpose dimensioned open version when that route is installed. Material and hardness can be selected to match the enclosure environment and the access available for fitting the grommet.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. A custom flat profile can keep the closure close to the surrounding surface while the retaining geometry engages the panel edge. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
