A Buna-N rubber cable grommet can be custom molded in a flat profile for a compact entry. The shape should match the receiving opening and finished wall thickness while leaving the cable its intended passage. A low-profile face still needs sufficient room for the retaining area behind the panel.
Check nearby brackets, covers, and connectors before installation. A part that fits the opening can be pushed out of position if another component presses against its concealed edge. The cable route also needs enough free length to avoid levering the flat insert sideways.
Choose the Buna-N compound for the actual medium, temperature, and cleaning exposure. Remove burrs from the opening and seat the grommet without cutting the rubber with a tool. Inspect the perimeter after the cable supports are secured and the surrounding parts are installed. During servicing, recheck the entry if the wiring moves. Use the complete matching profile for replacement rather than selecting by the visible flat face alone, and replace damaged rubber before an exposed edge reaches the cable jacket.
