An NBR rubber cable grommet in an automotive assembly should be selected for the actual combination of heat and fluid exposure at its mounting point. A small amount of residue held beside the flange may remain in contact longer than a brief splash. The particular NBR formulation needs assessment under those representative conditions.
Custom bore and retaining dimensions allow the part to fit the cable and panel. Consider where the cable route may carry residue toward the opening and whether the surrounding shape permits it to drain or be cleaned. The jacket material is part of the same contact arrangement.
Evaluate the installed grommet after representative operation, checking the outer seat and cable passage separately. Look for changes in fit, surface condition or removal resistance. Keep the opening clean during assembly and avoid trapping residue beneath the lip. During service, a swollen or hardened area should prompt a review of exposure and compound suitability. Simply increasing interference may make installation harder without resolving the condition affecting the rubber.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. Custom bore and retaining dimensions allow the part to fit the cable and panel. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
