A chemical resistant rubber stopper must be developed around the actual substance and contact conditions at the opening. Chemical identity, concentration, temperature and exposure duration all belong in the material selection. The custom closure can vary in structure, dimensions, hardness and color, but a suitable shape alone cannot establish chemical compatibility.
Define whether contact is occasional or continuous and whether the stopper also encounters a cleaning fluid between uses. The rubber needs to suit the relevant combination rather than only the main process liquid. Keep the selected compound explicit when comparing candidate stoppers, especially if different versions share a similar color and outer profile.
Fit the stopper to the intended contact depth and leave a workable removal area. Avoid an engagement that depends on excessive compression to hide an irregular opening. Evaluate the complete closure under the actual exposure, then examine both the sealing region and exposed surface for changes. Swelling, hardening or softening can affect retention even before a visible split appears.
During maintenance, follow the handling requirements of the substance involved and inspect the stopper once it can be handled appropriately. A part that has changed shape should not be forced back into the opening. Clean the mating surface using the method appropriate to the application and replace the affected closure with the evaluated material. If the process chemistry changes, review the stopper selection again rather than relying on its previous fit or the general chemical resistant description.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. A chemical resistant rubber stopper must be developed around the actual substance and contact conditions at the opening. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
