These silicone stoppers use a cone-shaped profile to engage an opening progressively as they are inserted. The taper offers a changing contact diameter along the body, so the seated position depends on the opening size and the depth of insertion. It is useful to establish that position deliberately rather than judging the fit only by how firmly the stopper can be pushed.
Measure the opening at the actual contact surface and allow sufficient stopper height to remain accessible. A deeper insertion may increase local compression, but it can also make removal awkward or bring the narrow end into contact with something inside the opening. Any flange, shoulder, or nearby obstruction changes the available seating range.
During use, insert the stopper in line with the opening to avoid an uneven band of contact. Check the taper for cuts and embedded particles before reuse, especially if the mating edge is relatively hard. Where leakage control is required, verify the chosen insertion position under the intended conditions. A tapered fit alone does not establish a pressure rating or suitability for a particular fluid.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. The taper offers a changing contact diameter along the body, so the seated position depends on the opening size and the depth of insertion. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
