A silicone rubber cone dust plug closes an opening with a tapered molded body. The smaller end assists entry, and the wider section establishes contact as the plug moves into place. Custom taper, length and hardness allow the seating position to be developed for a particular opening.
Define the useful contact band on the cone. A thin panel edge and a deeper bore meet the taper differently, even if their entrance diameters match. Check that the chosen plug leaves enough exposed material for removal and does not reach an internal obstruction before seating. The opening should be clean and free of sharp edges that can score the silicone. If water exclusion is required, assess the closure at its intended insertion position and exposure conditions rather than assuming that a tight feeling confirms the result. Remove by the accessible body without levering against a fragile edge, and inspect the contact band before reuse. A torn or deeply scored cone should be replaced with the correct profile instead of being pushed further in to find another contact area.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. Custom taper, length and hardness allow the seating position to be developed for a particular opening. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
