A colored rubber bushing can be customized for a cable opening with a special shape. Its material, retained profile and passage should follow the mating assembly, while color or molded identification can help distinguish the finished version. Color is useful for recognition but should not replace the actual fit definition.
Map the opening and wall thickness around the whole perimeter, including any asymmetry that sets orientation. A special profile should seat without being rotated or stretched to imitate another shape. Check the internal clearance with the cable in its final route. When several similar bushings are used, keep their identifying details associated with their specific locations. During installation, inspect the retained edge before the wiring obscures it. During replacement, compare the actual geometry as well as the color, since revisions can leave different parts looking alike. If a cable arrangement changes, reassess the passage and orientation before using the same colored bushing in the altered entry.
