A rubber harness grommet should accommodate the finished bundle at a firewall while retaining securely in the panel opening. The harness can move differently on either side of that barrier, so routing and support need to be considered together. A tight fit at the cable does not compensate for a retaining lip pulled out of the panel by an unsupported branch.
Match the opening, panel thickness, and bundle covering to the custom profile. Leave the intended cable slack and bend space beyond the entry. Choose the compound for the local exposure, with any barrier or fire requirement assessed as part of the complete firewall construction.
Seat the grommet before finalizing harness supports and inspect both sides where possible. Check its position through the handling expected during service and after adjacent components are installed. If the harness is redressed later, reassess the passage contact rather than assuming the previous fit remains unchanged. Replace damaged rubber and correct rough panel edges before returning the entry to its intended configuration.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. A tight fit at the cable does not compensate for a retaining lip pulled out of the panel by an unsupported branch. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
