Product Overview

A mechanical seal O ring is a custom rubber ring fitted within a sealing assembly. Its cross section and diameter need to match the receiving groove and the intended compression. Material selection is a separate decision from the ring size, especially where a food-contact role is involved.

Silicone and Viton-type fluorocarbon compounds are different material choices. Select the specific compound for the actual medium, temperature, cleaning exposure, and any applicable contact requirements. A general elastomer name does not establish that every version is suitable for the same process. The ring's mechanical role also matters, including whether it remains stationary or experiences movement within the assembly.

Check the groove dimensions and surface condition before installation. The ring needs space to deform as intended without being pinched or left loose. Avoid twisting it or dragging it across sharp threads during assembly, and use only assembly aids compatible with the selected materials and process. Inspect the completed joint under its operating conditions. During replacement, examine the mating surfaces and locating features as well as the old ring; wear or misalignment in those parts can prevent a correctly sized replacement from working as intended.

Material options
FKM / Silicone. Custom formulation and color for the intended contact conditions.
Hardness selection
Rubber: 30–90 Shore A. Silicone: 20–80 Shore A. The ring's mechanical role also matters, including whether it remains stationary or experiences movement within the assembly.
Custom dimensions
Check the groove dimensions and surface condition before installation.
Fit & assembly
Avoid twisting it or dragging it across sharp threads during assembly, and use only assembly aids compatible with the selected materials and process.
Use & inspection
Select the specific compound for the actual medium, temperature, cleaning exposure, and any applicable contact requirements.

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
