Rubber cover caps close exposed features using a custom fit around the receiving surface. For dust protection, the perimeter matters as much as the closed face. A cap that covers the opening visually may still leave a gap at a corner, seam or change in diameter beneath its edge.
Material, size, hardness and color can be developed for the component and handling conditions. Establish the intended seating depth and check the complete contact region. The cap should remain located during normal movement without needing to be stretched around an unsuitable profile.
Before fitting, remove dust from the cavity and the receiving feature so it is not trapped under the cover. Evaluate the completed arrangement for the required exposure, including any handling that can lift an edge. During removal, avoid pulling repeatedly on one narrow portion of the cap. Inspect the perimeter for cuts and permanent curling before reuse. If dirt consistently appears at the same position, review the local fit or nearby interference that may be keeping the edge from seating.
