Product Overview

A protective silicone rubber bushing separates a mating part from the hard surface of a receiving hole or housing. Its wall creates a compliant interface, while any shoulders or flanges in the chosen design help establish the installed position. The protective function depends on covering the area that would otherwise experience direct contact.

Check the bore, wall thickness and overall length together. A bushing that is too short can leave an exposed edge, while one that projects too far may interfere with an adjacent component. The internal opening should allow the intended fit without excessive squeeze on the contained part.

Seat the bushing without twisting or folding its wall. A smooth receiving edge helps preserve the rubber during insertion. If movement is expected, assess where that movement takes place and inspect the bore for wear during maintenance. The component should not be assigned a rotating-bearing duty or electrical insulation rating merely because it forms a rubber barrier around the part passing through it.

Material options
Silicone. Custom formulation and color for the intended contact conditions.
Hardness selection
Silicone: 20–80 Shore A. Choose flexibility with the protective bushing length and wall section, avoiding a grade that allows its exposed end to fold into adjacent parts.
Custom dimensions
Check the bore, wall thickness and overall length together.
Fit & assembly
The internal opening should allow the intended fit without excessive squeeze on the contained part.
Use & inspection
If movement is expected, assess where that movement takes place and inspect the bore for wear during maintenance.

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
