A silicone rubber electrical grommet should fit the panel independently of the cable passing through it. The retaining groove locates the rubber on the wall, while the bore provides the intended cable interface. Excessive compression at the outside can distort the passage even when each loose dimension appears suitable.
Custom dimensions, hardness and color allow the profile to follow the enclosure. Define the finished panel thickness and opening edge, including coatings or local formed features. Select the silicone formulation for the exposure and any electrical requirements of the completed assembly.
During fitting, engage the retaining lip before fixing the cable route. Inspect both panel faces where accessible and check again after the nearby harness support is secured. The cable should not pull the grommet into an offset position. During maintenance, look for cuts along the hidden panel groove as well as marks at the bore. A clean front flange can conceal damage underneath, so review the full interface before deciding the part can remain in service.
