Selected for the contact, temperature and movement
Define the visible surfaces and intended color
Develop holes, lips and walls around the mating parts
Match the attachment and installation method
Non-standard parts used as rubber dampers can follow a mounting arrangement that is not symmetrical or readily served by a standard shape. The custom profile should distinguish surfaces that carry load from those that need clearance. This helps avoid creating a narrow section that is unintentionally responsible for supporting the assembly.
Define the actual attachment positions and expected movement before selecting the compound and dimensions. An offset mounting may introduce a turning effect as well as direct compression. The rubber geometry and surrounding hardware should be evaluated together for those forces.
Check the installation sequence with the complete mating components. The part should locate without being twisted into a permanent misalignment merely to reach its fasteners. During representative operation, inspect for concentrated deformation at corners or transitions in the special shape. Select the material for the environmental exposure as well as the mechanical duty. If repeated damage appears at a thin region, review the load path and mounting orientation before assuming a harder compound alone will provide the required correction.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. The custom profile should distinguish surfaces that carry load from those that need clearance. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
