Product Overview

Silicone keypads for computer keyboard assemblies provide molded pressing surfaces arranged around a custom key layout. Size, color, and legends can be coordinated with the keyboard housing and the operating structure beneath it. The spacing and support across the whole key field matter as much as the shape of an individual button.

A larger layout can be affected by uneven enclosure support. If one section of the silicone sheet is compressed more than another, keys in different areas may move differently after assembly. Position the supporting features and fastening arrangement so that the sheet sits in its intended location without being stretched to reach the housing openings.

Legends should remain centered on their assigned keys and readable in the installed orientation. Printed, raised, recessed, or colorfilled marking styles can be selected for the design. Evaluate typing sequences that move between neighboring keys and across the layout, including larger or edge keys where the pressing position varies. The underside must remain aligned with the corresponding switch areas during these operations.

Keep the contact and support surfaces clean during assembly. Cleaning the exposed keypad should not leave debris around the moving edges or force liquid into the surrounding keyboard structure. Final electrical behavior and any illumination features belong to the complete keyboard design and should be assessed with the molded keypad installed.

Material options
Silicone. Custom formulation and color for the intended contact conditions.
Hardness selection
Silicone: 20–80 Shore A. Evaluate typing sequences that move between neighboring keys and across the layout, including larger or edge keys where the pressing position varies.
Custom dimensions
Position the supporting features and fastening arrangement so that the sheet sits in its intended location without being stretched to reach the housing openings.
Fit & assembly
Legends should remain centered on their assigned keys and readable in the installed orientation.
Use & inspection
Cleaning the exposed keypad should not leave debris around the moving edges or force liquid into the surrounding keyboard structure.

Material and structure

Consider hardness together with wall thickness and support.

Installation

Check access, mating dimensions and the fitting sequence.

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
