A molded rubber damper can incorporate custom locating surfaces around the section intended to deform. Those features help the part fit the assembly, but they should not unintentionally constrain the working body. The design needs a clear relationship between where the rubber is held and where movement is expected.
Check the receiving recesses and attachment faces before fitting the part. A locating feature that is not fully seated may leave the damper tilted, while an overly tight surrounding cavity can restrict its movement. The installed shape should match the intended load direction without being forced into position by the fasteners.
Material selection follows the actual mechanical duty and exposure conditions. Evaluate the completed mounting arrangement rather than assuming a result from the molded appearance or free dimensions. During maintenance, inspect the contact boundaries between the locating sections and the surrounding structure. Uneven impressions or local rubbing can reveal that the part is being held differently from the design, even when the central rubber body still appears intact.
