Product Overview

A flat cable sealing grommet needs a passage that respects the cable's width and thickness. Flattened wiring does not behave like a round lead: twisting it to enter an unsuitable opening can concentrate pressure at its edges and disturb contact around the passage.

This product can be customized in profile, size, rubber material, hardness and color. Establish the cable orientation before selecting the entry geometry. Include any jacket ribs or edge features in the fit, and leave room for the cable to follow its permitted bend direction after passing through the panel.

For a sealing-oriented arrangement, the narrow edges require attention as well as the broad faces. A bore that looks close across the width may still leave gaps at the ends or compress the cable excessively through its thickness. Evaluate contact with the actual cable construction in the assembled position.

Also consider the transition just beyond the panel. A flat lead that changes direction across its width may need a different route from one bending across its thin section. Leave the transition visible during the first fit so buckling can be noticed before the cover is installed. If the cable includes a reinforced termination, keep that thicker region out of a passage designed for the flexible section unless the profile specifically accommodates it.

Feed the cable without folding it lengthwise to reduce its width. Once routed, check that the grommet has not rotated and that the cable remains flat at the exit. Place the adjacent support so it maintains that orientation without pulling the rubber out of its mounting groove.
