A flat cable sealing rubber grommet cushions a flat wire or cable profile as it crosses a panel. The passage should agree with both its width and thickness, allowing the broad faces and narrow edges to sit in the intended relationship. ETOL offers custom geometry, compound, hardness and color for that fit.
Review the cable near its termination, where stiffening, wrapping or another local feature may change the profile. The dimensions at the actual panel crossing are the relevant ones. Plan assembly so the connector does not have to be forced through a passage designed only for the flat cable itself.
Keep the cable aligned with the grommet opening as it is secured inside the equipment. Twisting near the panel can load one narrow edge and disturb the intended sealing contact. Evaluate any required water barrier in the final arrangement, with the cable held at its normal support points. During service, inspect for a crease where the cable exits and for a retaining edge pulled out of shape. Correct the route before replacing a damaged part so the same concentrated contact does not recur.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The passage should agree with both its width and thickness, allowing the broad faces and narrow edges to sit in the intended relationship. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
