A mushroom silicone plug combines an inserting portion with a wider exposed head. That head provides a useful handling area and can limit how far the plug enters a matching opening, depending on the final design. The fit should leave enough access to remove the part without prying against the silicone with a sharp tool.
Choose the insertion dimensions around the actual port, including its depth and entrance shape. The head needs clearance from neighboring parts and should sit where normal handling will not catch it unintentionally. Where the plug closes a fluid or air path, evaluate its contact and retention under the relevant operating condition.
Press the plug in line with the opening and check that the head has not folded underneath itself. Remove it with a controlled pull appropriate to the assembly, after any pressure difference has been safely addressed. Inspect the neck below the head for tearing, as that region can receive repeated handling stress. Store spare plugs without clamping or crushing the inserting section out of shape.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. Press the plug in line with the opening and check that the head has not folded underneath itself. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
